Bobrek, Cieszyn

Bobrek is a district of Cieszyn, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. It was a separate municipality, but became administratively a part of Cieszyn in 1932.

First mentioned in 1322[1].

According to the Austrian census of 1910 Bobrek had 2,820 inhabitants, 2,790 of whom had permanent residence there. Census asked people for their native language, 2,241 (80,3%) were Polish-speaking, 438 (15,7%) were German-speaking and 111 (4%) were Czech-speaking. Most populous religious groups were Roman Catholics with 1,724 (61,3%) followed by the Protestants with 1073 (38%), 17 Jews (0,6%), and 6 (0,2%) of other religion.[2]
